Who?
We are the current manifestation of the Guardians of Grace, Blessing & Sustenance, and Custodians of these teachings (et Custosi Tutelae).
Based in Adelaide, South Australia, the Order is a collective of independant magicians & technical mystics, both local and international, who share and work with a common mystical language based on the Qabalah.
Our ‘modern’ history informs us that the Order existed post-WWII in the Dandenong Mountains of Melbourne under the direction of Shomer Freedman Burford, who brought the order ‘down under’ from England in the 1930’s. In 1959, Shomer Michael Freedman joined the Order and assumed leadership in 1967 upon his teachers death. In 1970 the Order was moved to Mt Eden, Auckland, New Zealand where it continued to operate until Shomer Michael Freedman’s death in 1996.
After a period of turmoil over succession, an egregoric line of the Order was maintained through Magister Jean de Cabilis under the ‘et Custosi Tutelae’. Australian-based Frater Carfax, who first met Shomer Michael Freedman two years prior to his death and joined the eCT in 1999, was granted the rights and charter in 2003 to continue the day to day operation of the tradition from Australia. The Guardians of Grace, Blessing & Sustenance (Australia) was formally incorporated in 2005.
Our present task is to raise every willing living being to full benevolent awareness of Light, Life and Love as Guardians of the Biosphere, with an increasing awareness of the significance of the Great Mother and relationship to El Elyon - God Most High.
More specifically,
It is our Intention that we link ourselves with those Forces and Forms that
are building the Universe, so that we might become a part of evolving life,
in Communion with All Life,
with Compassion for All Life,
in Cooperation with All Life
- these being our watchwords for the present Age.
While being the formalised entity continuing the Guardian tradition, we remain mindful of the words of Guardian Shomer Bryon on Michael Freedmans passing:
“Regarding the Guardians of 25 years’ altough the temple is dismantled (mantle-piece-masters-garment) it lives on in all those who attended the rituals….”
“For those who attended regularly or irregularly or read and meditated on the lessons on Pentacle articles, I will say that anybody who wants to be a Guardian can be one.”
